Who we are
40 years of life, three continents, a lot of works, so many people involved: the Movement for the Fight against Hunger was born in Lodi in 1964, with the aim to fight against malnutrition and underdevelopment. It became an Association first and then it became an NGO in 1983, gaining the qualification from the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
One year earlier, that is in 1982, MLFM started to be part of FOCSIV, the Italian Federation holding the Christian Organizations for the International Voluntary Service.
Fighting against hunger and poverty is the first and real mission of the organization, who immediately decided to operate in the development and not in the emergency field. Bringing drinking water is the main goal but we do not forget educational, sensitization and formation activities.
Local population work and support is absolutely necessary to realize MLFM projects, whose clear demands are the starting points for any intervention in which we put technical means, experience and know-how.
In Italy MLFM wants to spread a new cultural attitude for a full human development that underlines the need to a global approach about underdevelopment issues mostly promoting Multicultural Education activities at school.
MLFM organizes also training courses for young volunteers in Italy and in foreign countries, fund raising campaigns and communication operations.
We host Civil Service Volunteers, trainees students coming from main Italian Universities and we welcome any person wishing to aid in promotional activities on the territory.
